Monday 14 September

  • Core Conditioning

    Jen Franks

A strong core makes literally everything in life easier, from flowing through a Vinyasa to carrying heavy groceries. This 60-minute mat class focuses entirely on 360-degree core strength. We work systematically through the abdominals, obliques, and back, using slow and controlled movements to build functional stability.

  • Mandala Vinyasa

    Jen Franks

Mandala Vinyasa: Elemental Flow A strong, dynamic, 360-degree practise rooted in the official methodology of Dulce Mandala. Moving continuously around all four corners of the mat, this practise is breath-led, physically demanding, and highly structural. Each class focuses on a specific element (Earth, Water, Fire, or Air) to target specific areas of the body. We begin and end with deep, floor-based Yin postures to target the connective tissues, while the peak of the class is a rigorous, heat-building Vinyasa flow. Expect to work hard, move continuously, and regulate your nervous system. Earth Element (Hamstrings & Grounding): Focuses on deep forward folds, grounding postures, and building structural strength and flexibility through the hamstrings and the back line of the body. Water Element (Hips & Fluidity): Focuses heavily on opening the hips, groin, and pelvis. Expect fluid, continuous movement and deep structural release in the lower body. Fire Element (Core & Twists): A highly active, heat-building practise focusing on core conditioning, deep spinal twists, and internal strength. Air Element (Backbends & Front Body): Focuses on structural opening of the chest, shoulders, and quads. Expect demanding backbends and deep expansion through the front line of the body.

Tuesday 15 September

  • Open Studio | Self led practice

    Jen Franks

There is a time for moving as a collective, and there is a time for moving exactly how your own body wants to. This 2-hour rolling window is when you can use the MOKU sanctuary entirely on your own terms. Whether you want to run through a fiery Ashtanga flow, iron out the kinks from the week with some gentle mobility, or simply lie completely still over a bolster for 45 minutes, avoiding your responsibilities, this space is yours. How It Works: The Rolling Window: You do not need to be here for the full two hours. Arrive when you want, stay for as long as you need, and leave when you are ready. The Soundscape: We will have a low, ambient playlist running in the background to set a grounding mood for the room. If you prefer to flow to your own high-energy beats or listen to a guided meditation, please bring headphones to keep the shared space peaceful. Make Yourself at Home: All studio blocks, straps, and bolsters are available for you to build your perfect setup. Leave No Trace: When you are finished avoiding the outside world, simply wipe down your mat and return your props to their designated homes so the space is ready for the next person.

  • Hatha Strength

    Jen Franks

A grounded, disciplined practice focused on steady physical engagement and nervous system regulation. This practice removes the momentum of a dynamic flow, challenging you to hold traditional postures with complete structural awareness. It is an opportunity to tune into the mechanics of your body, build quiet internal heat, and actively train your mind to find calm within a demanding physical space.

Thursday 17 September

  • Ashtanga

    Kay King

There is a reason this traditional practice has survived for decades...it works. Ashtanga is a highly structured, flowing sequence of postures designed to completely realign the body, build functional strength, and quiet the mind. Think of it as structural conditioning on a yoga mat. We move rhythmically through a specific series of sun salutations, standing postures, and seated folds. It is an active, physical practice, but it is deeply logical. We aren't doing complex acrobatics; we are just using our own body weight to build a highly resilient system. What to expect: Rhythm and Breath: We focus heavily on breathing deeply while moving, which completely resets the nervous system. A Safe Challenge: It is a strong practice, but every single posture can be modified. You just do what your body allows on the day. A Moving Meditation: Once you memorise the physical sequence, the practice stops feeling like a workout and starts feeling like a moving meditation.

  • Core Conditioning

    Jen Franks

A highly focused, strictly mat-based class dedicated to 360-degree core stability. We step away from momentum, using slow, controlled movements to systematically build structural strength through the deep abdominals, obliques, and back. Designed to protect your joints and improve your overall functional power, this is a deliberate, hard-working session that provides the perfect foundation for all your other movement practices.

  • Barefoot Conditioning

    Jen Franks

This class sits perfectly at the intersection of functional fitness and mindful movement. Designed to build cardiovascular endurance and structural strength without heavy impact on your joints, this session steps entirely away from the traditional gym format. Expect a creative, full-body mix of dynamic primal mobility, yoga-inspired strength drills, and targeted core work. By training barefoot, we engage the entire kinetic chain to build deep, foundational stability from the ground up. It is a heat-building, purposeful practice designed to challenge your stamina while respecting the natural mechanics of your body.

  • Slow Yoga Flow

    Sarah Laverty

This class is the antidote to the physical stiffness that comes with daily life. Rather than rushing through postures, we strip the pace right back to focus on conscious, deliberate movement. It is a slow, methodical, and highly accessible approach to unwinding the body. Whether you are looking to maintain your joint health, step onto a mat for the very first time, or want to move without the pressure of keeping up with a fast-paced room, this is where you start. What to expect: Pace: Gloriously slow and intentional. Focus: Rebuilding balance, preserving everyday mobility, and mindful, structural stretching. Vibe: A space where you can take your time and move exactly as your own body allows.

Saturday 19 September

  • Vinyasa Flow

    Kay King

If you are comfortable with the basics and want to explore a slightly more energetic pace, this is a beautiful place to unroll your mat. In this class, we string postures together into a continuous, creative sequence. It is a slightly quicker pace, making it a brilliant way to naturally build heat, stretch out tight limbs, and get out of your busy head for an hour. While we do explore some stronger poses, the environment is deeply supportive, and you are always encouraged to take it at exactly your own pace. A gorgeous, full-body flow for anyone looking to add a little more movement to their week.

MOKU is delighted to host an afternoon of atmospheric abstract landscapes by North Devon painter Garri Paal Aske Nash. Misted horizons, weathered coastlines, colour that shifts from stormy blue to sudden gold. Nash's paintings aren't records of place, they're memories of it, built up in layers of texture, weather and time. He prefers not to explain the work. He'd rather you found your own way in. Nash has spent over 40 years in art and design, including 25 years as Head of Art at A-Level. Since retiring in 2024, he's painted full-time, with work shown at The Burton Gallery and across solo exhibitions in North Devon. Garri will be there in person throughout the afternoon.
